A fine turn out was had at Kodiaks for the year end battle - 9 of our 'regulars' showed up for some food (too much perhaps) and drink and some battles. No "fifdy cent" raises were had though as we had $10K to play with. Well done!
No one went walking before 10 - but no rebuys were allowed so we did have some short stacks. Kodiak's first hand at dealing whittled away Rico and Kodiak and a bit of Kill, and then Kill fell after 10 to GI Joe whose dominating wall, and quad Jacks took down pocket Aces. If your gonna fall, falling to quads is ok. But first to pick a consolation prize he did, and ironically Kill got the pooping penguin Pete. (only 0.5 calories per poop)
Then, 11 hit and five playa's fell quick. Rico, who was slightly under the weather, never really caught cards and was taken down after an all-in play (small bluff) when the top pair called on the flop by Zeusy. No help at the turn or river and Rico then picked some McDs gift certificates - if you can't win the pot at least you can add a pound or two to your butt.
And 2-3 hands later Kodiak waved good-bye. She was shortstacked and also caught few cards all night, even after she passed up dealing efforts to Bacon and started into her wine, so when she had pockets nines, and was put on the decision by Bacon when he moved all-in (and Zeusy was fondling his chips to call so Kodiak knew she was behind) - but she called. And she actually had live cards as they both flipped pocket Aces but no luck on her side, she was gone and well, more wine was good enough for her night. Knowing the prizes, she passed this year, but prize enough was the good company (eeyew) and the baileys (thanks again Kill!).
And then, 2-3 hands later, Mr. Mumbles was taken down by Bacon . Flop had hit 285. Mumbles moves in and is called. Bacon flips pocket 10s to Mumbles overcards KJ and the race is on but the turn hits a 2 and the river an 8 so Mumbles mumbles away. Glad to have you back though! (and by the way, when you have A2 and the board has an A 2 2 - my kicker with A8 does not win, you got the FH!) Enjoy the liquor chocs~
And lastly, before 12, Heather is all-out at the river when she moves all-in with two pairs. Quickly called by Bacon who hit the straight on the river. So we are down to four at the witching hour. Not sure about Heather's consolation prize pick. I was refilling my wine glass.
Unsure when in the hand it happened but at some point Zeus had a nut straight only to be beaten by GI Joe's Full House. Joe had 10-10 in the hole vs Zeusy's KQ. Board looked like 10-?-J-J-A. Tough luck. Oh well, Zeusy picked up some scratch and win tickets and it was worth the $50 buy-in to watch him try to play those for 1/2 hour. No $50K for him though. Entertainment value I say...
So bubble boy it is with three players left and 2 paid. A long battle ensued with chips moving about until at about 1 when James figured his A8 was good and called Bacon's all-in preflop. James needed a few chips and well, aces are good - especially when you have two, which is what Bacon flipped. Board fell 2-3-2-3-10. Bye! Enjoy McDs dude!
A split pot? Nope. Joe was waiting for Nikki and Bacon was hunting a full win (plus his pay paid for all the gifts....really!). The battle ensued and while Bacon was dominating, a few tide turns here and there until an all-in move by Bacon was called By joe At about 120. Joe flipped KQ - pretty good heads up - but pocket cowboys are better. Board fell 5-10-7-3-4 and Bacon walks away the champ of the finale - plus the two Niks also got some prizes. Good play guys~
And the winner of the year - regular season - was announced....RICO SUAVE!
Some quotes of the night (and yes, we even have some live tape which will get put on line after some downloading...)
""Not in an orfice" Bacon to Zeus
"Ah, C'mon, Pumpkin Nuts" Zeus to Bacon....quickly followed by Joe's 2 cents "that must be hard to walk"
And FYI, Bacon does not like to be stroked by Zeus. Really.
See you in 2007 !
Kodiak out
