A chip, a chair, and a new point leader.....

WOW. Oh, what a night at the Firefly poker event. 9 playa's stepped up to play what may have been the best poker we have ever had. Great plays - nice bluffs - and a finale worth remembering for awhile.

It was a heated battle from the get go. 25c raises - ha! $4 on the first hand, and it was called!

But to the facts....

First to go out was Joey, taken out by Dot and then Nikki followed taken down by Zeus. However, 10pm had not come around yet so rebuys saw a return of our fav Halifax fighting duo (plus Stuey chipped in another few to top up a bit). Everyone else was about the same, no huge chip leaders. It's gonna be a long night.

HOWEVER, Kodiak was soon wiped clean by the BIG hand of the night. She preflopped raised with KK in the hole and got called by many. Flop hit 2K2. Gold! Bets, and everyone folds but Dot (aka Paul). Then the turn, another 2. Kodiak bets, also flat called. Hmmn. Something is up. River is a blank. Dot bets, but only abuot 1/4 the pot. Pot odds (but she knew is was over). She smartly calls but Dot was holding A2 so his quads took her down (kings over deuces). She was left with 15$ but Stuey hit Jacks to her AQ and she missed and then Ig finished her off. So a new dealer was born! - You must return my little Dot.....game on !

Next break, Dot had the big chip lead and little Nikki was looking short. And then WHAM! One big hand to rico - he sliced and diced both Nikki and Ig to climb up towards Dot. Next to say bye-bye was Joe, taken down by Stuey's pocket 8's. Joe's 5/7 didn't catch. Good try. Stuey didn't last too much longer though when lil sis river dealing gave Dot 2 pairs and took him out. Riverrat!! (oh, what did I care...I was out...plus, truly, I like to see whoever takes me out win....:>)

Down to the final four. Bubble boys all as only 3 were going home with the change. Pop Pop fizz fizz oh what a joy it is.....Zeusy taken down by Dot. Zeusy's top pair was good, but Dot's 2 pairs were better. 3 up.

Spot (who has been pretty quiet all game), Rico and Dot. Leader definitly Dot. Should have been the mighty Salloums in the heads up but Spot's Ks could not hold up to Dot's flush on the turn. Good call.

Should talk about the other big turn of the game. poor Rico was ka-boomed down to 2$ with 3 players. He tripled twice in a row to $18 and hit to about $24 when Spot went out. Dot was 10-1 chip lead going to heads up. Truth be told, lil sis dealt some damn good cards to Rico during his trial - pocket 7s, AQ etc.

2 double ups later (although it did take about 25 minutes) and Rico was the new leader.....A battle ensued and although Dot hit, Rico finally took him down (but I can't recall with what....it was 130 am). Big Bro's dealing (spot) gave little to Dot and well rico had the luck of the poker gods. But man, good playing. I give my hats off to Dot and Rico for sure.

Although, I do question one fold of KK by Dot....of course, if I had I may have gotten 10 minutes farther in the game.....

Too busy watching the action to take to many quotes but one I did write down was "catching bullets with my meat" and I am not even sure why. hmph.

Thanks Ig and Spot for joining in our games and you can check out updated point counts in the next day or two as I am off on a date! (ssh, don't tell marky-mark)

Kodiak out

Saturday, July 22, 2006

Well, playa's, another fun night was had for our bi weekly poker rally. 13 showed for the big two table match up, including Spot from Trinidad and little bro dot...a dot is smaller than a spot, eh?

Again, the table split produced the 25c raise/fold vs chaos all in with nuttin tables providing much amusement for all (especially us on the 25c raise/fold table).

First out was Joe. After a take down with Kodiak's A high straight vs his King high, he was swallowed up by Troy with trip 7s. a rebuy of $5 hoping for a chip and chair win did not go well after the 10 o'clock break and he was out 2nd as well. Next to Fall was Little Dot taken out by Troy again...was another one of waugh's ringers gonna win?? Troy's 2 pair took out PS's top pair.

Rebuys by Zeus, Joe and Stuey but not for much this game.

Then onto the chaos table . Spot was whacked by Fireshirt james - Ks held high. Then Nikki fell to Rico. He had the nut flush and her trips didn't stand a chance.

Back to the scaredy cat table, things had gootten hot and heavy with Stu's climbs and falls but this game, he fell off the ladder when Stu's all in with AJ was called by Jay's A10 preflop only for two more 10s to hit the board. CRASH!

And then there was 8 and we were all at one table. Big stack was Rico with some good middle stacks held by Jay and Kodiak and Bacon Bits (aka MC Drywall). Zeus fell first to Bacon - his K8 didn't hit as Bacon's pocket Qs stayed pretty. Next to fall was fireshirt james by Jason. James' pocket 10s didn't hold up to a call with Jay's K? when the K hit the board.

Then Rico and Bacon went head to head in a match and Bacon was fried. A preflop all in by Bacon with KJ, gutsy call by Rico with pocket nines, but a nine hit the flop and even though he made 2 pairs, trips took the $. Then the reign of Jason really began. now Bacon, to be fair, was haviong a hard time being both a carb high (buns!) and being "molested" (not abused!) by Troy...

First he took out Troy. Troy's pocket 10s was taken down by 2 pair. Then Rico fell. An odd hand with 2 pairs (4s and 6s)up. Rico goes all in with Ace high and is called (guts man guts) with Jason's pocket nines and Rico says farewell.

Money is on the line now for the last three. Derek falls to Jay first - a call of an all in by Jason but Derek had nuttin so Jay took it easily. Then it was heads up....

WITH KODIAK! (can you believe it). Jay is up 6-1 in chips so things don't look goos. Try as she did, she was never called on her all-ins and couldn't get much more in chips so back and forth mini battles ensued. Finally down to 10% of the chips, Kodiak goes all in blind and gets called "why not". She flips and sees J4 off suit vs Jay's K6 off suit but a J and a 4 hit and she takes it. However, some hands later she goes all in with middle pair, Jacks, and is called. Jay also has middle pair but his A kicker smucked her 6 kicker so even though another J landed, she was out. But she tripled her $ and left with a smile.

Congrats to Jason!

See a few pics of the gang - The one of Rico is his last decision of what to do, what to do. Stu was also contemplating his fate but that time, he folded pocket queens (and would have been beaten if he had called Bacon's move as he would have hit four of a kind Aces.... And the winner is a very intoxicated Jason. And the devil lives in Bacon. But, we knew that.

.Just want to add a big get well to Kill and see ya at the table soon man.

Quotes of the evening (but only a few of many)

"I love shuffle shuffle woo that's my favorite game"

To Jay "If you have a penis, you will call"

"Someone call Nicolle and tell her mine is bigger than his"

"Stop rubbing my leg!"

"Well at least we know how the sock got wet"

GI Joe as mentionned....

Kodiak out

Hey big boys....and fab gals....

another game was had this weekend, July 7th - finding 6 playa's competing for top $ and bragging rights. Rico - Stuey - Petey - Joe - Kodiak and Jas Jas were present for what looked to be a long "pass around the bucks" night.

First out was Joe - earlier demolished by Kodiaks FH flop (he had trips) and the chip and chair just didn't work out. But Kodiak followed next taken down by Jason with a Q high flush over her J high (had to call dude) and then wiped out by Pete's pocket nines vs her suited Big Slick.

Should mention that Stuey was also out at this point a few times but his chip and chair worked.

Next to fall was Jas Jas taken out by Paul. Again a big slick was taken out by a straight (oddly made but made nevertheless).

Then Rico. His AJ off suit was a good all in, and called by Petey with K4 off suit. Three handed and Petey would have survived and well, when the K and 4 hit Rico had to say good-bye.

So heads up action saw Petey dominating Stuey at 2-1 chip count. Back and forth a bit but then Pete lost an all in and the seats were reversed. Never catching back up, Stuey took the game at 2 am hitting 2 pair with J4 off suit vs Pete's A2. All in called after Stuey had it made.

Good times.....

Quotes?
"They work for air" - Petey's politically (in) correct view of the Taiwainese work force and,
" That hand was cockalicious" by Stuey. (no explanation req'd)

Two power naps as well.
Jas Jas tried to take the blinds before the hands were dealt and Stuey mucked his cards and attempted to take them back when he remembered he was BB.

See points for punks for some new standings. Sniff boo Kodiak in fifth and we have a new leader.....

Pictures include some close ups of Stuey's tells (he folded these hands) and our new GQ stars Rico and Jas Jas. Also shown is Petey's wins and Kodiaks slow mental withdrawl when dealing. Joe in action as well....go GI Joe!

Kodiak waaaaaaaaaaaay out
